The Bar Association of the District of Columbia (BADC), founded in 1871, is the nation's 3rd oldest bar association (after the Boston and New York City bars).  The BADC is a voluntary bar association.  Its members participate in various volunteer committees and sections including the Young Lawyers Section (YLS) and the Patent Trademark Copyright (PTC) Section.  The BADC's members distinguish themselves by volunteering their time and talents to advance civility, justice, and the nation's capital community's access to legal services.

Member Types and Annual Dues - Membership through June 1, 2017:

Law Student: $15

Young Lawyer (Through 6 years since Date of First Bar): $65

Regular (Over six year since Date of First Bar): $150

Life Associate (At least 65 years of age/15 Consecutive years as BADC member): $75

Government/Public Interest Lawyers (Including CCAN/CJA): $75

Fellow: $500 annually, in lieu of regular dues (Includes Past Presidents & Fellows Dinner ): $500

Lifetime Member: $2,500 ($500 down/$2,000 pledged over 3 years): $2,500

Associate (Non-voting; Member of any U.S. State of Territory Bar): $100

Affiliate (Non-voting; Out of metropolitan area member, Non-lawyer involved in legal profession - paralegal, legal administrator, law librarian, etc.): $100
