1.  The Stanford Law & Policy Review is soliciting articles for an upcoming symposium on "National Defense Policy."  Articles should be between ten and forty double-spaced pages, not including notes and citations. Deadline is August 1, 2010.  If you have an idea for an article, but have not written it yet, the Articles Editor may pre-approve your article for publication if you contact him ASAP at (proposals were due on May 16).  Submit articles and proposals via e-mail to

2.  Kel McClanahan, one of our committee members, is the Associate Editor of the American Intelligence Journal.   The next issue is themed "Intelligence and the Rule of Law."  He is looking for 4,000 – 8,000 word essays discussing issues at the intersection of law, intelligence and oversight.  Email with what you'd like to write about.  
Deadline for manuscripts is flexible, but June is ideal.  Please feel free to forward this to any of your colleagues who might be interested. 
3. Know any law students interested in national security? The 2010 Law and National Security Writing Competition sponsored by the ABA’s Standing Committee on Law and National Security is underway.  This year’s topic is "National Security in a Globalized World."  Cash Prize of $500 plus free registration and travel to the upcoming committee’s 20th Annual Review of the Field of National Security Law Conference which will be on November 4 and 5, 2010 in downtown Washington, DC.
