TRIP DETAILS

BADC members and their guests are invited to Rome, Italy, for a unique visit built around the Eternal City's historical and cultural sights, outstanding cuisine, ample free time, and plans to meet and interact with local professional colleagues. Space is limited, and May is a beautiful time of year in Rome, so please don't delay! (1/31 enrollment deadline)

Itinerary

SU 30 Depart Washington/Rome FCO (suggest non-stop United 884 IAD-FCO 17h30-08h15 night flight)

MO 01 Arrival at FCO with airport Meet & Assist service-transfer to downtown hotels. Prechecked rooms will be ready on arrival with time to rest before a city orientation tour w/ Colosseum and Forum and a welcoming group dinner in an authentic Roman trattoria!

TU 02 Daily hotel breakfasts. A free day in Rome or consider an optional excursion to Naples/ Pompei or Florence for detailed guided visits with transport and entry fees.

WE 03 A free day today to enjoy everything Rome offers. Consider the opportunity to participate in the weekly Papal General Audience. Plans call for a friendly trattoria-style dinner this evening (Roman counterparts invited)

TH 04 Early morning transfer for a skip-the-line guided visit to the Vatican Museums (aka Sistine Chapel) and St Peter's Basilica-PM free for shopping and exploring!

FR 05 Visit Castel Gandolfo today for a guided visit to the Papal Palace with a hands-on cooking experience and lunch! Glass of vino, and closing dinner this evening

SA 06 Transfer with airport assistance for flight home UA885 FCO-IAD 10h30-14h25 (suggested flight, same-day arrival).

Hotel

Staying at the Hotel Santa Chiara and Iconic Pantheon (carefully chosen, adjacent, well located 3-and 4- star boutique hotels).

All-Inclusive, Except Airfare

The above costs are based on 15-25 pax and are all inclusive of airport assistance and transfers, nightly accommodations in the selected hotel with hotel breakfasts, detailed city sightseeing as above, including reservations, entry fees, and appropriate transport, three dinners in local eateries, a hands-on cooking event at Castel Gandolfo, as well as all taxes and agency/professional/operational costs associated with making these complex personalized arrangements on behalf of the BADC. Optional excursions to Naples/Pompei and Florence will be at $675 each with a minimum of 5.

Deposit

The requested deposit to hold your spot on the trip is $1,000 per person (non-refundable), with the balance due 3/1. Trip Insurance protection is strongly recommended and will be available to all participants.

Airfares

Airfares are additional, and Bethesda Travel is available to help with flight reservations. Airfares are currently $1325 in coach with a checked bag, approx. $550 add-on for Economy Plus seating. Premium Economy and Business class by request. Airfares are subject to change without notice until issued.
