A Section of the BADC
Young Lawyers Section
The next generation of the Bar Association of the District of Columbia.
Why join
Step into the D.C. legal community
Membership connects young lawyers with the wider bar. As the first bar association founded in the District of Columbia, in 1871, BADC has built direct relationships with the bench that few newer organizations can match. You gain access to the events the Association is known for, and the chance to meet judges, law firm partners, and senior practitioners in a relaxed setting.
Recent gatherings include the BADC Annual Judicial Reception, the Association’s Annual Banquet and Awards Gala, the Potomac River Bench and Bar Peak Performance and Resilience Summit, and practical CLE webinars.
On the horizon this year
- A law student chapter drawn from the District’s law schools, connecting students with practicing attorneys before they graduate.
- AI classes and workshops to help young lawyers bridge the gap between law school and legal practice.
Our mission
A commitment to the profession, since 1871
Since 1871, the Bar Association of the District of Columbia has been committed to advancing civility, professionalism, and equal access to justice. BADC was the first bar association founded in the District, and that history has given the Association a level of access to the bench that younger organizations cannot replicate. The Young Lawyers Section carries that mission forward, focusing this year on artificial intelligence, civil rights, and disability rights.
