The BADC is DC’s voluntary bar and seeks to promote civility, justice and collegiality among members of the legal profession in the nation’s capital. Members of the BADC distinguish themselves by volunteering their time and talents to advance civility, justice, and the nation’s capital community’s access to legal services.

A DEEP HISTORY AND A LASTING LEGACY
Founded in 1871, The Bar Association of the District of Columbia (BADC) is the 3rd oldest bar association (after the Boston and New York City Bar Associations) in the USA. The BADC is a voluntary bar association that hosts the only Lawyer Referral Service in the District of Columbia. BADC members participate in various volunteer committees and sections including the Young Lawyers Section (YLS), the Intellectual Property (IP) Section and the Bankruptcy Section. For nearly 150 years, BADC’s members have distinguished themselves by volunteering their time, talents and skills to advance civility, professionalism and equal access to justice.
